Chief Science Officer

Doug Reynolds, Ph.D., is Chief Science Officer of DDI. He is a globally respected industrial-organizational psychologist focused on research and practice of technology-enhanced workplace assessment. Within various leadership roles in DDI’s assessment and technology teams over the years, his work has informed the design, implementation, and defensibility of DDI’s assessment and diagnostic tools.

As Chief Science Officer, Doug is focused on advancing the science and application of assessment and the responsible and ethical application of artificial intelligence for workplace assessment. He also oversees DDI’s research and development processes and innovation investments in start-up companies within the learning and assessment industry.

Previously, Doug served as Executive Vice President of Innovations and Technology, managing all aspects of DDI technology, including the development and support of DDI’s technology-based products as well as global delivery infrastructure. In his prior consulting roles, Doug designed and implemented large-scale assessments and tests with Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies. Throughout his career, Doug has been deeply involved in the creation and deployment of behavioral simulations used for executive and leadership evaluation.

Doug is also an active contributor to the field to complement his DDI responsibilities. He has held several leadership roles in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), serving as president (2012-13) and in other roles on the executive board (2009-2014). Doug co-edited Talent Assessment: Embracing innovation and mitigating risk in the digital age (2023) Next Generation Technology-Enhanced Assessment (2018), and the Handbook of Workplace Assessment (2010, which won the Academy of Human Resource Development’s Book of the Year award), and he coauthored Online Recruiting and Selection (2009). His research has appeared in the Journal of Applied PsychologyPersonnel Psychology, and International Journal of Selection and Assessment. Doug is a Fellow of SIOP and the American Psychological Association. He is a frequent invited speaker and author on the nexus of assessment and technology.
